If nothing leaves your house, then nothing will get in (Kirundi proverb – Burundi). – Stinginess.

Dr. Y, your English translation puzzles me. The French version seems to make more sense: “If nothing leaves your house (i.e. if you hoard everything), then nothing will come into your house (no love, no riches …)” — but the English translation on your post is confusing. Is there a reason why you inverted the phrases??

That’s a good proverb and well-worded. Seeing the French word l’avarice as stinginess was very interesting to me since the word avarice in English means extreme greed.
