–  Trop d’amis, trop peu d’amitié.

Many caterpillars, little oil (Libinza Proverb – Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)). –  Too many friends, too little friendship.

  1. This proverb is all too relevant when you consider how rampant social media has been for over a decade. Are people on FB really friends with their hundreds or thousands of people on their friends list? What ever happened to being friends in real life and doing things together. Yesterday, I celebrated a friend’s birthday party whom I’ve known since middle school and we still keep in touch to this day. That was important being there with her and a mutual friend whom we’ve known from school, too.

    • yes… your comparison with Facebook and the plethora of friends that one accumulate there is a good one. How many of us still have friendships with friends from middle school? That’s amazing that you do, and you should cherish it.

      • Thank you. The rampant social media frequency in modern society has certainly dampened the quality of friendship. It was something I cherished when I was at the birthday party and I’m thankful that I’m still able to be friends with them after all this time.
