Below is a description of clothing in the ancient Ghana Empire: Great and Magnificent Ancient Kingdom of Africa, in the 10th century in the West Africa. This clearly shows that the narrative of naked Africans is quite recent and wrong!!!

“Of the people who follow the king’s religion, only he and his heir presumptive, who is the son of his sister, may wear sewn clothes. All the other people wear clothes of cotton, silk, or
brocade, according to their means. All men shave their beards and women shave their heads.”
That doesn’t surprise me, but it’s still amazing to get this information to destroy any racist stereotypes about naked Africans.

Yes… sadly, in this day and age, we still have to destroy these stereotypes, … What is important is that we are educating ourselves, our brothers and sisters, who have been exposed to fake history about themselves for too long.

Exactly. It takes a lot of education and for me, it forced me to be an autodidact of sorts.

It has always been taught that our people had nothing and knew nothing until the Europeans came to colonize. Sadly, many of our people still believe that.

Thank you Ricardo for your comment. Yes… many of our people have accepted the foreigner’s view of themselves as their own. We need to fight that, and that is why it is important to educate each other.

It has always been taught that our people had nothing and knew nothing until the Europeans came to colonize. This was done to justify colonization and slavery positing that those institutions were beneficial to those “naked, ignorant Africans.” Sadly, even some of our people still believe that.
